Himekko 5 formed on January 30, 2011 in Himeji City with five members. The group has a cute ninja theme as their gimmick, but also represents the five themes of Himeji, nature, history, culture, tourism and gourmet food. Around 2012 Reona left and they became a quartet. Later Imazu Kurea left and Himekko 5 became a trio. Himekko 5's song “Shuriken Shu Shu” appeared on the “Japan Idol File” compilation before releasing it as their first single. In January 2014 Raisa joined, followed by Rinri joining in February. Himekko 5's second single, “Kanbei-kun”, was released on February 26, 2014. Saran joined in April 2014, and for a while Himekko 5 had six members. This six member lineup filmed a short music video for “Kanbei-kun”. Founding member Yamamoto Saki left the group in early June 2014. Himekko 5 continue performing locally as a five member group.
